My Thoughts

Hope

Several years ago I attended a jewelry party at a friends home. So much jewelry to see and admire, rather overwhelming. I look, I ponder what can I afford, what outfit will that go with, do I really want that and then again can I afford that. I spot a little ring, something within my budget, on it was engraved HOPE. That was it because I needed the reminder to put my Hope in Christ.

In Psalm 42 the writer seems to be giving a pep talk to himself. He asks Why so downcast? I read this and say to myself why are you always looking down and allowing every situation to disturb you. Where is my hope? In material things, in people, in money? Things that so easily disappoint. Look up! Put your hope in God!

As I put on that ring most every day it reminds me of where my hope should be, in the redeeming power of Christ. The words of an old hymn come to mind “My hope is built on nothing less that Jesus blood and righteousness”.

Praise God for the hope that is found in Him!

Summertime

This has been an interesting summer. Why? You may ask. Of course the virus that has our lives in a tangle of anxiety, fear, anger and many other negative feelings. My MS does not do well in the heat so whatever walking ability I have has diminished. We (my husband and I) are caring for my 90 year old mom and that is a challenge (we’ll talk more on that subject another time).

So not to be a Negative Nellie one of the best parts of the summer has been getting my Mom outside and sitting with her for an hour or so enjoying the sights and sounds of Gods creation. We don’t talk much but we enjoy each others company. Something I’m learning in these outdoor times is sitting and being still and thinking about God’s care for us. The creator of the world loves to sit with me and my mom in those quiet moments. Isn’t that amazing!! I encourage you to be outside and enjoy being in the presence of God.
