Being a Mom & Grandma

My Voice

The other day my husband Phil and I spent part of our day with our youngest granddaughter, Avery, age 3.

It was a beautiful day so we spent most of our time outside in her yard. Being 3, her world is new and amazing. Finding large and small pinecones,
the partial egg shell in the grass from a robins nest,
the new green leaves on the tree,
the new green growth on the pine tree that was soft to the touch,
and wanting to go and pet the robin.

As Avery and I took a ride on my scooter she was noticing the flowers in neighbors yards and all the pretty colors that they are. Seeing all of this thru Avery’s eyes was reminding me of the majesty of God’s world.

And then there was a moment when she couldn’t find her Grandpa. She called “Grandpa, Grandpa!”

Her Grandpa called back, “Avery!”

Even though she couldn’t see him, yet she looked at me with sheer joy and excitement on her face. “He knows my voice!” she exclaimed.

“Yes, Avery he knows and loves your voice.”

The Creator who made all the amazing treasures Avery found that day is also the God that knows and loves your voice.

Being a Mom & Grandma

Grands

I’m a Grandma! There are five little people that call me Grammi. They are McKenna, Meredith, Kinley, Jude and Avery. They bring such joy to my heart that it’s hard to explain. Now I know there are some of you waving your hands saying let me tell you about my grandkids. All the google photos, refrigerator artwork, framed pictures all over the house yes indeed I have them too.

What is it about the way they say Grammi and then a big hug follows. Or the laughter and giggles, reading books as they snuggle next to you, tea parties or rides on my scooter. I love it all!

I want them to know that I love them and pray for them every day. That I see them as strong Godly people that God is going to use in this world.

Years ago I read a book that changed the way I see God seeing me. Just as I love to hear the voices of my grandchildren He too loves to hear my voice, those one on one conversations. He created my voice for His enjoyment. Just as I never grow tired of my Grands so God never tires of me.

Welcome!

This is a brand new outreach that I never thought I would do. But my daughter suggested I use this way of communicating to friends (new and old) and family.

God has been teaching me alot lately about “walking” with Him. I put walking in quotes because I have MS and I don’t walk anymore so some of the blogs will be about that part of my life.

We will also talk about:

  • Books I’m reading
  • Caregiving
  • Being a Mom & Grandma
  • Value of Friendship
  • Whatever God prompts me to talk about.

So welcome to my blog. We’ll figure this out as we go. So enjoy the ride with me.
