Creation

In Awe

About a year ago I had the privilege of taking a trip to Florida with my daughter Bethany and 2 dear friends. I had never been to Florida, hard to believe isn’t it! The experience was a dream.

For the first time in my life I saw the ocean. I saw the beautiful colors of the sunset glimmering off the water. With the help of my sweet friends I was able to put my feet in the ocean, to feel the sand under my feet. To sit on the beach and just take it all in. I was in awe!

I was reminded that so long ago God spoke and the water and the land came into being. What did that first sunset look like? It must have been amazing, because God saw that it was good.

Now that I’m back in Wisconsin I remember that trip and will always be thankful for the experience. I look at the sunsets where I live, the beauty that God puts out there for us to enjoy. The amazing creation of this world that we see every day is calling us to recognize the Great Creator of heaven and earth. I encourage you to stop –really stop– and take in the beauty around us like it’s the first time you’re seeing it.

Psalm 90:1,2 “Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.”

  1. Brenda, wonderful words. I am always struck by the means our God uses to demonstrate His grace and care for us.

    1. It’s been a long time since I’ve put my feet in the ocean, but when I look out my back slider door and see my pool, I am very thankful. I am living my dream. Today I chose joy.
